Since walking is the simplest exercise and the most accessible and convenient to do, one would think that this world is a place of healthy people living a healthy life. Apparently, times have changed together with the changes brought about by a busier lifestyle made comfortable by innovations.

A classic example of a busy lifestyle made comfortable by innovations would be instead of walking your way to the nearest bakeshop located two blocks from your place, you would likely get on your car and drive your way to the bakeshop. Or an office worker going out for lunch in the cafeteria located two floors from his office would rather catch the elevator than walk his way up. This scenario isn't uncommon. No wonder, the world's life expectancy rate is going down lower and lower.

When you go back to the basic and that means walking your way to the things you need to have or to do, you might be surprised to see significant changes in your body and in your well-being.

As walking does not need any equipment and does not require any specific location, it is a very convenient exercise to do. The important thing you need to put on is a comfortable pair of walking shoes and you're ready to walk to fitness and to health. Walking is good for healthy lungs and a healthy heart. Walking increases the capacity of the lungs for a deeper and longer breathing resulting to taking in a healthy amount of oxygen to cater to the body's needs. Regular walking increases the efficiency of the heart by enabling it to pump healthy blood or oxygen-rich blood all over the body. Of course, efficient heart functions reduce the risks of high blood pressure, heart diseases and stroke.

Another benefit of walking is the noticeable reduction of body fat. Walking increases your metabolism and the first thing that you are shedding off is your collection of body fats. This will eventually lead to a significant lowering down of your waistline as it is the fats in that area which are most likely to be noticeably gone. Your body's improvement will be well-maintained as walking also helps control your appetite.
