Katie is a nineteen-year-old college student majoring in chemistry.

It's possible to write a book even if you're an unpublished author, even if you've never written a book before (there's always a first time), and even if you're still in school.
"But how?" I hear you asking.
"How is it possible?" THE BOOK PROPOSAL The way to publish your first book is the same way seasoned writers publish all their nonfiction books: by beginning with a book proposal.
Katie can do it too, even though she's still in college.
The only problem is that Katie is pressed for time.
She wants to do this fast because she has a term paper to write for another class and tests to study for and labs to do.
So she wonders how fast she can actually write a book proposal.
THE ONE-DAY BOOK PROPOSAL My clients regularly turn out book proposals in one day.
That's right, one day.
And the way they do it is simple.
You can use the same technique.
Katie can do it, it's so simple.
It begins with realizing that a commercial book proposal for a nonfiction title follows a simple format.
The format includes certain sections.
The way to do a one-day proposal is to come up with a title, and then just list the section headings.
Then write a paragraph for each section heading.
You're done! You could do it in an hour or two.
"What are the sections?" you ask.
They are: the intro, the marketing and promotion sections, the about the author section, the competing books section, and the chapter list and chapter-by-chapter outline.
"But isn't that too short?" you wonder.
"Don't I need to do more than a paragraph for each section?" You can, and most authors do.
But if you finish your book proposal in one day, like I suggest, then you can expand each section at your leisure.
The important thing is to motivate yourself and get excited by the idea of finishing it in one day.
That will give you the foundation upon which you can build and expand over the following days.
But all the time you'll be smiling to yourself.
