How to Repaint the Top of a Clothes Dryer
- 1). Sand the area of the dryer top you want to paint with fine-grit sandpaper, which will help the paint adhere to the dryer's surface.
- 2). Clean the top of the clothes dryer with a clean cloth dipped in warm, soapy water; use dishwashing liquid. Dry the area completely with another towel, and let it air dry if necessary.
- 3). Purchase spray paint or traditional paint that matches the color of your dryer from your local paint or home improvement store. If you can afford it, buy appliance paint, which is specifically made to be used on appliances such as dryers and will wear better over time.
- 4). Hang old towels or sheets behind the dryer and on any walls to the side of it if you will be using spray paint to prevent the paint from getting on your walls. If you will be using traditional or appliance paint, place old sheets or towels on the floor surrounding the dryer to catch paint drips.
- 5). Spay paint one coat onto the top of the dryer, or paint it with one coat if using traditional or appliance paint.
- 6). Allow the first coat of paint to dry, and apply a second coat. Let the second coat completely dry.
- 7). Apply a high-gloss glaze or spray, if desired, to help the painted area blend in with the rest of the dryer by giving it a more glossy appearance.
