- 1). Navigate the the McAfee website. McAfee, in response to consumer complaints, has a free removal tool which will remove Cleanup Tool (see Resources).
- 2). Download the tool. When asked to designate the destination of the removal tool, it is best to designate "Desktop" for ease of use. Once it is finished running, it is also easy to remove the tool from the Desktop.
- 3). Run the program. Following the on-screen prompts, run the uninstaller tool. After the tool is finished, delete it from your desktop.
- 4). Restart the computer in order for your changes to take effect.
