How to Reduce Underarm Sweating
- 1). Use an antiperspirant to help control underarm sweating. Antiperspirants are different from deodorants, which only cover the smell of sweat with something more pleasant. Antiperspirants can actually reduce the sweat produced by the sweat glands in your skin. Products containing aluminum chloride work best.
- 2). Shave your armpits. The hair can hold in heat and moisture, causing your sweat glands to work overtime.
- 3). Wear cotton shirts that are not too snug. Other fabrics, as well as tightly fitting clothing, can trap in heat, causing you to sweat more. Wear tank tops when possible to help air flow through your armpits.
- 4). Lose weight, especially if you are overweight. This can be an effective way to reduce moisture. It's also helpful to remove from your diet spicy foods (onions, peppers, etc.) that can make your sweat glands worked up.
- 5). Learn how to better manage your stress, which can be a primary cause of underarm sweating. When you are beginning to feel stressed, taking 10 deep breaths may help keep you from dripping at the armpits.
