Dropps Fabric Softener Pacs
Dropps fabric softener pacs offer eco-friendly fabric softener contained in a biodegradable, phosphate-free, NPE-free (nonylphenol ethoxylates)dissolving pack. The pacs are tossed in the drum of a washer (never the fabric softener dispenser) with the detergent and dissolve in any temperature of water.
The pacs are added at the beginning of the wash cycle so that they have time to fully release the fabric softener and long-lasting scent. Dropps Fabric Softener pacs come in 16-count bags in three scents:
- Lavender
- Orange Blossom
- Wild Orchid
Dropps fabric softener uses natural minerals rather than chemically created ingredients to soften clothes. Since the minerals flow through fibers to naturally soften fabrics, Dropps is safe to use on children's sleepwear, leaves towels absorbent and allows athletic wear to remain absorbent and breathable. Chemical softeners coat fabrics causing children's sleepwear to be non-fire-retardant and towels and athletic wear less absorbent.
Dropps is safe for all fabrics and all colors. The fabric softener pacs can be used in both high efficiency (HE) machines (front-load and top load) and standard machines. The product is also safe for septic tanks.
Product Ingredients - Mineral softening agent: Bentonite
- Fragrance
- Colorant
Since the pacs dissolve completely, there is very little packaging to recycle. All Dropps products reduce your carbon footprint in the environment. The outer plastic bag can be recycled through Terracycle making Dropps a 100 percent zero waste laundry product. Recycling with Terracycle can actually earn cash for nonprofits and schools.
The Dropps Story
Dropps Fabric Softener is a product of Cot'n Wash Inc. based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The laundry product line is an off-shoot from the company's research on the care of cotton fibers at their textile mill in the 1980s. The company discovered that by reducing the number of chemicals and removing enzymes in their detergent formula, fibers looked better and lasted longer. The laundry detergent was introduced to the market in a 3X liquid formula, Cot'n Wash and then in the Dropps 6X concentrated pacs in both regular and fragrance-free detergent and baby detergent formulas.
Laundry Recommendation
I gave Dropps fabric softener pacs a try with a non-fragrance detergent so I could get the full effect. I was very pleased with the delicate scent - not overpowering - of the orange blossom pacs. The clothes felt soft to the touch and after drying were soft and had no static. They smelled fresh with just a hint of citrus.
Regular readers know that I am not a fan of most fabric softeners because they reduce absorbency of fabrics and reduce fire-retardancy. Since Dropps fabric softener pacs use natural minerals rather than chemical coatings, these problems are gone.
My only concern is not being able to adjust the amount of fabric softener you need if doing a very small load. They are very simple to use, however, you must keep your hands dry as you place the pac in the washer or it begins to dissolve right away. And, they look so much like candy that you MUST keep them away from children and pets.
Dropps products are available nationwide in major merchandisers and online.
