What Excursions Are Available in Senegal and How Expensive Is It?

What is available? There is a variety of excursions available in Senegal; even some that you wouldn't expect in a developing country.
For example, if you're comfortable enough to pay for it, you can get a helicopter ride.
Mind you that it will easily cost you around $2000! Obviously, people who started these types of excursions were aiming for a very wealthy clientele.
If you're not that wealthy though, do not despair yet, there are many excursions available for less than $100 per person.
An excursion in the desert of Loumpoul riding camels is one those activities that aren't too expensive but are really fun and unique experiences.
Spending a day visiting the many parks like the Niokolokoba National Park, or the Djoudj National Birds Park, or just roaming around the couple of UNESCO world heritage site will be a great way to spend your time.
If you'd rather take it easy you can just enjoy a relaxing day spent fishing on the Atlantic Ocean, or an evening contemplating the stars on one of the tiny little islands in the Sine-Saloum region.
Alongside all these excursions you get to play with toys like ATV, Jet-skis, motocross-bikes and more.
As you can see Senegal boasts plenty of interesting activities you can partake in, but remember this important tip...
When planning for your vacations, always prepare for a fixed budget that you're going to spend on these fun activities.
Having fun in Senegal can be expensive because the fees add up pretty fast, especially if you're trying to participate in all activities available.
You certainly don't want to go broke halfway through your holidays.
A Day in the Desert...
Spending a Day in the Loumpoul desert is probably my most favorite activities of all.
For a fair price you will be able to ride camels in the dunes, rest in a tent set up between two dunes with food already prepared for you to eat; the main course being spicy lamb meat prepared in an underground pit with vegetables, and onion; and finally end the day with a Senegalese obsession...
Tea! Yep, Senegalese people are very much into tea, we drink tea after lunch, after dinner, and even a couple of times in between the two meals.
There are plenty of other excursions to try in Senegal, but I just really liked this particular one and thought I'd share it with you.
In the end though, regardless of the type of expedition you engage in Senegal, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun!
