About The Knights of Sparta:
The Knights of Sparta have been hailed as the best parade of the first weekend of the Carnival season in New Orleans. Sparta rolls on the Saturday of the first weekend as part of the three parades on that day.
The Beginning of Sparta:
The Knights of Sparta originated as a bal masque organization in 1951, staging elaborate tableaus for many years at the Municipal Auditorium.
In 1981, the Knights began parading have been gaining members and popularity ever since.
Sparta's Traditions:
Spata has a signature float, a mule-drawn king’s float, traditional flambeaux, and officers mounted on horse-back. Sparta is an all male krewe. Their motto is
