How to Grow Pachira Aquatica From a Branch
- 1). Fill a 4-inch terra cotta pot with equal amounts of rose soil and sphagnum peat moss. Use a sharp pruning knife to cut off a 4- to 6-inch side branch.
- 2). Remove leaves on the bottom half of the cutting, if there are any. Dip the last inch in rooting hormone and insert the last inch into the soil.
- 3). Place the pot in a bright spot out of direct sunlight. Water until the soil settles. Continue watering frequently enough to keep the soil moist. Mist the leaves every other day.
- 4). Apply a balanced houseplant fertilizer once a month, once the plant becomes established. You can keep it in the same spot, out of direct sunlight, for the duration of the plant's life.
