Your business depends to a large extent on how safe and secure your guest feel while staying at your hotel as there have been some events in the recent past that have caused concern over the lack of security and safety measures in an average hotel.
There are various safety and security measures which you can adopt to reassure your guests:
- Install all necessary safety equipment like fire hydrants, sprinkler systems, security cameras etc.
Your hotel must be equipped with such gadgets that will be useful during fires, power outages or any other emergency situation like hurricane etc.
No hotel room or passage should be without fire detectors or alarms for emergency situations.
Each room should have a fire extinguisher and an access to emergency exit so that each guest feels safe. - Train all employees to handle emergency situation with a calm attitude so that guests are reassured and undue panic is not created.
Make sure you have done proper background check before hiring employees at any level. - Employ only experienced and trained professional for duty at the swimming pools or hot tubs.
- During the time of check-in make sure that everybody provides and ID and if somebody objects then calmly explain to them that it is for their own safety; now if somebody really makes an issue when asked to show an ID then you may safely assume that there is something fishy and inform authorities immediately.
- Once guests have checked into the hotel, have security staffs explain in person all the steps to be followed in case of an emergency situation.
This will make the guests comfortable as they know now that you have a plan to deal with anything.
- Install electronic locks in all rooms and keep an in-room safe in each room too so that guests are assured of the safety of their belongings when they are out.
