Getting motivated is one of the hardest parts about starting and staying with a workout routine. After working all day and sitting in traffic the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was exercise. But if I didn't exercise, I always felt tired, gained weight, and my self-image suffered. Subscribe to a fitness magazine online or through the mail that will help keep you thinking of fitness and will motivate you with enthusiasm about being in shape and good health. The more you get enthused about fitness, the more you will want to do it. When you have health related information around that you can look at it will inspire you and the more you learn, the more you want to try.
2. Blogs and online communities are great places to read about what others are doing to maintain their health and weight. Fitness and wellness forums are also good places to participate and communicate with other fitness-minded people.
3. There are many fitness-related activities that you can join that can make it fun. Walking or running 5k's was always a great motivator for me and I felt good, not only because I was getting my much needed physical activity but because a lot of them were for programs that raised money for a worthy cause.
4. If you know someone who wants to join you in a workout or jog, that is a great way to stay motivated. My co-worker and I would get together several times a week after work and jog together at a nearby park. It did wonders to keep me in the spirit and we had some really good conversations as well.
