    • 1). Hold down the power button on the Zune player for 10 seconds and wait for the device to restart.

    • 2). Plug the USB cable into the bottom of the Zune player, and insert the opposite end of the cable into a different USB port on your computer than the one you normally use. According to Microsoft, the Zune player requires a direct, high-powered USB connection to the computer for swift file transfers.

    • 3). Click "Device" in the Zune software window, click "Summary" and click the plus sign next to "Not Added." Locate the files listed in the "Not Added" section and move them to a different folder to exclude them from the synchronization process.

    • 4). Click "Settings" in the Zune software's window, click "Software," "General" and "Check for Updates." Click "Update Now" to update your Zune software to the latest release.
