How to Prevent Clogs in Snow Blowers

    • 1). Apply a non-stick spray to the snow blower's shoot and auger. This will coat the machine just like cooking spray, making it less easy for snow to accumulate in these areas.

    • 2). Get a move on it and plow faster. The slower you move, the more likely your machine is to clog. Going faster will prevent clogs because the snow mobile will spin faster, throwing out more snow.

    • 3). Avoid using your snow blower to plow through really heavy, wet snow. Unfortunately, when snow is very wet and heavy, this will clog your machine much easier than light, fluffy snow.

    • 4). Get a more powerful snow blower if you find your machine is constantly clogging, or if you live in an area that has a lot of wet snow. The more powerful the machine, the easier it will be to push snow out and the less clogs you will have to deal with.
