Burke Lakefront Airport
Burke Lakefront Airport, located along Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, is Northeast Ohio's primary general aviation airport. The 450 acre facility, opened in 1948, has two runways and handles over 90,000 air operations annually.
Burke is also the site of the Cleveland National Air Show, held each Labor Day weekend.
History:
Burke Lakefront Airport, named for Cleveland Mayor Thomas Burke (1945-1953), opened in 1948.
The airport sits on 450 acres along the downtown shores of Lake Erie. Like Cleveland Hopkins Airport, it is owned by the City of Cleveland. Burke handles general aviation, military, and air taxi traffic and acts as a back-up airport to Cleveland Hopkins.
Several commercial carriers have briefly operated out of Burke, the latest of which was Destination One in 2006.
General Aviation:
Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL) is a fully-certificated FAR Part 139 airport. The facility has two runways, one 6198 feet and the other 5198 feet.
Landing rates (2012) are $5 for a single-engine aircraft, $8 for a multi-engine, $10 for airport with a gross landing weight of 10,000 to 12,500 pounds, and $1 per 1000 pounds for planes heavier than that.
Burke's FAA Air Traffic Control Tower is open 24 hours a day Monday through Friday and from 7am to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

Burke Lakefront Airport has parking for 660 vehicles. Rates are $6 per day.

Burke Lakefront Airport closes for air operations each year for for the Cleveland National Air Show over Labor Day weekend.
The Cleveland Grand Prix was also held at the airport for many years.

International Women's Air and Space Museum:
The International Women's Air and Space Museum (IWASM) is located inside the lobby and west wing of Burke Lakefront Airport. The museum celebrates the contribution of women in air and space flight with a rotating schedule of temporary exhibits. The museum is open seven days a week and admission is free.
