    • 1). Pull the hood latch and raise the hood. Inspect the top of the black plastic fan shroud for the belt routing diagram. The diagram is a square sticker that has the routing directions for the belt.

    • 2). Look on the front of the engine and locate the tensioner for the serpentine belt. The tensioner is a two part component that has a pulley on one end and a spring loaded arm on the other end. Use the bolt head that secures the pulley to the tensioner arm to rotate the tensioner.

    • 3). Position the breaker bar and a metric socket onto the bolt head. Then, turn the breaker bar counter clockwise. This will relieve the tension from the belt. Pull the belt out from under the tensioner pulley. Slowly allow the tensioner to retract until it stops. Then, remove the breaker bar and socket.

    • 4). Pull the belt away from each pulley. Then, turn the fan with your hand until one of the blades is at the top side of the engine compartment. Slide the belt around the fan blade. Continue to position the fan blades at the top of the engine compartment to make it easier to slide the belt around the blades. Once that the belt is free of the blades, pull it out of the engine compartment.

    • 5). Hold the new belt up to the old belt to ensure the proper width and length. Then, lower the new belt into the engine compartment and around the fan blades.

    • 6). Route the new belt around the crankshaft pulley. Then, follow the belt routing diagram to route the new belt around the other pulleys. Leave the tensioner pulley as the last pulley to route the belt under.

    • 7). Turn the tensioner counter clockwise again. Then, slide the new belt evenly under the tensioner pulley. Slowly allow the tensioner to retract. Then, remove the breaker bar. The tensioner will tighten the new belt to the proper tension as it retracts. Inspect the new belt to make sure that it is inside of each pulley.

    • 8). Crank the 1993 Chevrolet Blazer for about ten seconds to completely fit the new belt inside of the the pulley grooves on each accessory pulley. Turn the engine off and shut the hood.
