One of the questions I'm asked most often is whether the prostate should be milked or not.
Years ago doctors used to milk the prostate for various medical reasons.
Men have often used it as part of their sexual practice.
But there is much to know about milking the prostate or prostate massage that is not commonly known.
It doesn't matter what method you're using.
There is a significant chance of doing permanent harm to the prostate.
There are risks.
It's not a natural function of the body.
Prostate massage and prostrate milking terms are commonly used interchangeably.
They both refer to or describe stimulation or massage of the prostate gland whether for medical or sexual purposes.
The prostate gland is only one part of the male reproductive system.
It produces the seminal fluid and is part of the process of ejaculation and orgasm.
It sits just behind the bladder and is about the size of a walnut.
Prostate problems include BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy or an enlarged prostate), acute prostatitis, chronic prostatitis, and prostate cancer.
And there are a few others less common.
Now you may or may not have pressed on the prostate gland to locate it.
What you need to know is that pressing or pushing on the top and center part of the gland can have serious consequences.
The nerves there are very sensitive.
Now if the gland is inflamed with or without your knowledge, and many man can have inflamed prostate glands and not know it, you can do some serious damage if you use prostate massage techniques, massage the prostate or milk the prostate.
When doctors or urologists do a digital exam they know how to avoid damaging the prostate.
If you have acute prostatitis there is a condition that can occur called Fournier's Gangrene.
This is an infection with serious consequences.
Another problem is you can get septicemia.
Septicemia is blood poisoning.
This is often a fatal disease; you don't want to get that.
Other problems you might encounter are hemorrhoids.
You can damage the urethra, which is where urine passes through.
Now if you have prostate cancer and don't know it you could be causing cancer cells to move out of the prostate gland into your bloodstream or lymphatic system.
This is called metastases and you would have metastatic prostate cancer.
So there are plenty of reasons why you shouldn't do prostate massage or milk the prostate.
Consider the consequences and the risks before you think about proceeding.
Yes these problems do occur from prostate massage it's not just small talk.
Be good to your body.
There's a lot you can do to take care of your prostate properly.
