The gerber, or gerbera, daisy is the variety of daisy most used for weddings. This type of daisy comes in a variety of hues, so it is likely that you can find one to match your wedding colors. While other kinds of daisies need to be dyed to match a wedding's color scheme, gerber daisies can be grown in a variety of hues. Gerber daisies also vary in size, so you can use several sizes of the same type of flower in your decor.

    Purple African Daisy

    • The purple African daisy, also known as the cape daisy, varies in shade from purple to white. This daisy differs in appearance from some other daisies because of how the petals fall around the center. The garden daisy and the gerber daisy have petals that extend outward and upward from the center, forming a protective shield around the center. The African daisy's petals fall outward and down from the center, more like a black-eyed susan, another daisy-like flower. The center is more exposed in this orientation of petals, giving the bloom a wilder look.

    English Daisy

    • The English daisy is also known as the common daisy. It too can have the raised center with the petals falling below instead of extending upward. There are typically several layers of petals on the English daisy as opposed to the single circle of petals on the gerber daisy.

    Sunflowers

Sunflowers are also in the daisy family. They are a bold choice for a wedding because of their large size and bright yellow color. Sunflowers make their own statement in any floral arrangement. They come in a variety of sizes and are used in many late summer and autumn weddings because their growing season corresponds to this period in the year.
