A borrowed item is believed to ensure that the bride's family & friends will always be there for her when she needs them most. Usually the borrowed item comes from the bride's family or one of her closest friends.
Your 'Something borrowed' could be:
A lucky charm bracelet borrowed from your best friend.
A brooch from your mother in law or grandmother.
A handkerchief.
Your wedding dress if you rented it.
