- 1). Add 1/4 cup of laundry detergent to a bucket, and fill it with water. Swish the water around until the soap has fully dissolved. If you are using powdered laundry detergent, using warm water will help the soap dissolve quicker.
- 2). Carry the bucket outside, and place near the landscaping rocks.
- 3). Use the stiff-bristled scrub brush to scrub the landscaping rocks that you want to paint. Be sure to scrub well, because you want to get dirt out of every nook and cranny. Dirt left on the landscaping rocks may prevent the paint from adhering properly, which may affect the longevity of your paint job.

- 6). Allow the paint to dry completely. If you live in a dry climate, this might be a few hours. If you live in a humid climate, you might have to leave the landscaping rocks to dry overnight.
- 7). Spray clear sealant on the rocks, making sure to coat every painted surface. This sealant will protect your artwork from the environment. Apply several coats, allowing the paint to dry between coats.
