The Wheel of Darkness by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child Book Review
It is time for FBI Special Agent Pendergast and his ward, Constance, to take a break and get away from it all.
They headed for Tibet, a place where Pendergast trained in martial arts and spiritual studies.
Once in Tibet, it becomes clear that this is not going to be a relaxing time for Pendergast.
At the monastery, he has been asked to help recover a priceless artifact that was stolen.
The rare artifact has been with the monks for generations.
The artifact has a special power that can bring about the end of the world.
The monks have never really seen the artifact.
Pendergast determines that the thief is probably on the ocean liner, Britannia.
He and Constance take a cruise also.
With plenty of people on the ship, Pendergast also finds that he now has several suspects.
The big question remains - is the person who stole the artifact on the ship? Pendergast is almost sure the answer is yes when strange things begin to happen.
Will Pendergast be able to find the culprit who took the artifact? I have enjoyed the other books written by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and this one will be added to my list of favorites.
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child know how to create a book that will give the reader their money's worth in thrills.
The backdrop of the ocean liner adds a great deal to this book because how many times have we seen movies with thieves and murderers on board a ship.
The authors have created a great character in Pendergast.
I can almost picture him looking somewhat like Sherlock Holmes as he goes about his business of capturing suspects.
He is a very likeable character and one that we have learned to trust in his hunches.
He adds a great deal personality to the story and his character really comes through even more so in this latest novel.
If you are looking for a really good thriller to read, be sure to add "The Wheel of Darkness" to your reading list.
I highly recommend it.
