Lose Fat in Stomach - It"s No Secret!

Getting a flat, sexy stomach seems to be a long lost treasure in health and fitness.  Sought after by many...found by few.  Only the young, rich, or genetically gifted appear to have the ability to get a flat stomach.  The truth is that everybody can get a flat stomach or six pack abs, but you have to be willing to put in a little work.  Yes, I said it...work!

The models, celebrities, and athletes you see with ripped abs had to work for their toned bodies and abs.  No, they didn't magically appear once they became famous and they didn't take some magical pill and they don't have access to special equipment which burns fat and sculpts muscle.  They put in the time and effort needed to burn fat and build muscle.

If you're looking for some quick solution to your midriff body fat...you can look elsewhere.  Actually, no...stop looking period!  There is no easy way to lose body fat and keep it off.  No magic pill, powder, or ab-machine is going to do it.  You have to learn how to exercise and eat properly!

It's pretty simple...you have to burn more calories on a daily basis than you consume.  This creates a calorie deficit.  When you maintain a calorie deficit your body has to use your body's fat stores for energy which burns fat from your body.

How do you create a calorie deficit?  It can be done with a combination of exercise and nutrition modifications.  You need to understand that no weight loss program will be successful if your nutrition is horrendous.  You must learn to eat less of the bad stuff and more of the good stuff.  This alone will help you cut out tons of calories.  Nutrition is the most important part of a weight loss program!

The second way is to increase your daily calorie burn is by being more physically active.  There are dozens of ways to increase your physical activity.  Walking, biking, hiking, swimming, weight lifting...the list is endless.

Of course, some forms of exercise burn more calories than others, but the more intense your workout (ie. the higher your heart rate) the more calories you burn.  It's as simple as that...work harder, burn more calories and fat.  There is no such thing as the "fat burning zone" unless of course said fat burning zone means working your butt off.

Also, do not neglect the weights!  Many people believe that cardio is the best way to burn fat and calories.  While it is a good way...it is not the only way!  Resistance training with weight should be a part of every weight loss routine.  If you don't lose you muscles, you lose 'em.  You don't want this to happen because muscle loss will result in a lowered metabolic rate meaning that you will burn fewer calories.

Cardio does not provide enough muscle stimulation to build or even maintain muscle.  If cardio is all you do, you WILL lose muscle.  So, no matter how much weight you lose you will never be toned because you won't have any muscle.
