Are you a savvy consumer? How do you research potential purchases and find the best hotel deals? Since its inception, the Web has become an invaluable resource for research and consumer transactions.
More shoppers are utilizing the Web as their primary way to shop for goods and services.
Those seeking travel accommodations are especially benefit from having a resource to find great deals on flights, hotels, rental cars, and more.
To start, many people access a major search engine such as Google or Yahoo and conduct a search for desired hotel accommodations.
Most likely they will begin a search for luxury hotels located in their geographic area of interest.
There is nothing wrong with such a tactic, but within the last few years, many sites have originated that act as its own search engine.
For instance, you can access a Web site to find cheap flights, hotels, car rentals, etc.
, in any specific location.
This may be a more efficient way to shop for cheap hotels rather than beginning the initial search from an engine's homepage.
Alternatively, if you are initially conducting your search from the search engine's homepage, it is important to understand the layout of search results pages (sometimes referred to as SERPS).
You may notice results that are highlighted, not highlighted, and at the left and right hand side of the screen.
Search results can either be categorized as organic or paid ads.
Organic results are achieved via an engine algorithm assessing a Web page's content, age, number of inbound links, etc.
Ideally, engines want to provide the end user with the most respected, content rich, and relevant page related to their search; those are organic results.
Paid ad results are also supplied within the SERPS and are distinguishable by highlighted backgrounds.
When searching for a luxury hotel, be aware that results appearing within highlighted backgrounds 'make the first page' due to paid advertising rather than the search engine's preferred, organic suggestion.
As stated, the Web is a wondrous informational and practical tool to find hotels, but becomes even more advantageous with additional insight.
