    • 1). Lay two beams on the floor, parallel to each other and with their ends aligned. Both beams should rest on their narrow edges. Position them so their outside edges are 60 inches apart.

    • 2). Set the third beam between the other beams, parallel to and equidistant from both other beams. Like the others, it should rest on its 2-inch face.

    • 3). Set one of the plywood sheets on top of the beams, running perpendicular to the length of the beams. Align its outside edge with the one set of beam ends so that it covers half of the length of all three beams.

    • 4). Screw the plywood sheet to the beams using a line of four evenly spaced wood screws along the midline of each beam.

    • 5). Set the second plywood sheet in place, covering the exposed remainders of the beams. Its short ends should line up with the short end of the plywood you've already installed, forming the rest of the bed platform. Screw it in place as you did the first plywood sheet.

    • 6). Sand the top faces of the plywood sheets. You can sand the rest of the frame if you like, but it will neither be visible nor come into contact with your mattress.
