Online marketing, web marketing, webvertising, or e-marketing - whatever way you call it - is simply just a marketing of products or services over the World Wide Web.. Because of this wide scope of Internet Marketing and also with everyone already familiar with the web, it seems like every company is already choosing this over the traditional print-ads, and TV commercials.

Online Marketing can do one, both or all of the following to a company and its products or services: communicate the company's message, conduct research as to the nature of customers, and lastly sell goods, services, or advertising space over the Internet. Just like it having quite a number of uses, online marketing also has different components.

First is the website. The company or organization sets up a website which may contain videos, pictures, and information that conveys the company's message to potential and existing clients. The website somehow equals to a brochure of the company.

Search engine marketing is another component. Marketing of the website online via search engines includes improving the site's natural ranking through search engine optimization or SEO, buying pay-per-click ads or purchasing pay-for-inclusion listing in website directories which simply corresponds to yellow page listings.

Online marketing also includes email marketing wherein information about a product or service or feedback from customers regarding a product are received and solicited through emails. This is actually the online version of direct mail marketing.

Print advertisements in newspapers and magazines have evolved in online marketing as banner advertisements wherein ads are placed on different websites for a fee.

An additional component is what we call online press release. It is similar to the typical press release however the news about the company, its products and services, etc is placed as online news. Other than that, we also have blog marketing - the posting of opinions or comments regarding a company, product or service in someone's blog. Similar to blog marketing, there is also article marketing wherein article or write-ups about a product, company or service are written and posted on credible article sites where surfers can read them.

And finally, last but not the least, - social media marketing. In here, you advertise a product or service through the use of social networking sites such as facebook, twitter, and the like. This component is somehow really convenient and growing in popularity since almost all people are into social networking sites these days making them the most visited sites in the internet.
