Baked Spaghetti & Meatballs With Bacon
- 1). Cook 4 strips of bacon in a frying pan until brown and crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and place it on paper towels to cool.
- 2). Combine 1/2 pound ground beef, 1/4 cup finely chopped onion, 1 tbsp. ketchup, 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice and 4 crushed saltine crackers in a mixing bowl.
- 3). Crumble the cool bacon into small pieces and add it to the mixing bowl.
- 4). Combine all of the ingredients with your hands and form the mixture into approximately one dozen 1-inch diameter meatballs.
- 5). Place the meatballs in an ungreased baking pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until the inside of the meatballs are no longer pink.
- 1). Cook 8 oz. spaghetti in boiling water according to the directions on the package. Spaghetti usually needs to boil for approximately 10 minutes but this time can vary depending on the brand of pasta.
- 2). Drain the cooked pasta in a colander. Pour into a 13 inch by 9 inch baking dish.
- 3). Saute 1/2 cup chopped onion and 1 small chopped green pepper in 2 tsp. olive oil in a large frying pan or wok until the vegetables are tender.
- 4). Add 14 oz. spaghetti sauce and 8 oz. tomato sauce to the vegetables in the frying pan and stir them together.
- 5). Pour the sauce over the spaghetti in the baking dish. Do not stir the pasta and sauce together.
- 6). Bake the spaghetti at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Sprinkle 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese over the dish. Bake an additional 10 minutes to melt the cheese before serving.
