How to Keep Friendships Strong
- 1). Get in touch with your friend with a quick note, an email or telephone call if you have been remiss in communicating. Tell your friend you are sorry for the lack of communication. Everyone can understand that life can get crazy and a simple acknowledgement can go a long way. Make it up to your friend by scheduling a lunch date or getting together for coffee. Be proactive in communicating with your friend so she knows you sincerely care about her.
- 2). Prioritize your schedule to include your friends. Obviously, things do come up that are out of our control, but don't make it a habit to consistently cancel. Keep your plans and commit to them as if they were a business meeting. For example, plan a once a month outing that best suits your interests. If you are movie fans, schedule a monthly movie night.
- 3). Forgive, forget and move on. If your friend has done something to upset you, talk through the problem, forgive and then forget. When you realize you have done something wrong to upset your friend, admit your wrongdoing and then apologize.
