How to Make Rub-on Lettering Phrases
- 1). Write out your phrase on your word processor. Use the spell checker to correct any spelling errors.
- 2). Choose the font for your phrase on the word processor. Retype your phrase in all capital letters, all lower case letters and mixed-case letters.
- 3). Sketch out the general shape of your phrase. When you add your phrase to your scrapbook, it becomes a visual element, not just a message.
- 1). Place your straight or flexible ruler on the scrapbook page. If using a flexible ruler, bend the ruler into your desired shape. Draw the lines on which you'll place your letters with a 2H pencil.
- 2). Peel the rub-on letters off the waxed backing. Position the bottom of each letter on the line, making sure that the descenders of letters letters "p" and "q" fall below the pencil line. Place one letter at a time, paying close attention to the "kerning," or space between letters.
- 3). Apply gentle pressure to the letters for better adhesion. Erase the pencil marks when you have placed all letters by dabbing them with the kneaded eraser.
