How to Make Garlic Mosquito Repellent
- 1). Prepare garlic oil by taking an entire head of garlic (peeled) and placing the cloves in 2 cups of olive oil. Simmer in a pan for 15 minutes, and then allow to cool completely.
- 2). Strain the oil to remove the garlic and any impurities, and discard the solid matter.
- 3). Combine equal parts petroleum jelly and beeswax with the garlic oil. The ratio should be 1 part garlic oil to 100 parts jelly and beeswax.
- 4). To use, apply to your arms and legs. According to the Colorado State University Extension, this garlic mixture will repel mosquitoes for up to eight hours.
