Personalized Gifts for Grandparents
- Grandparents will remember a personalized gift for a long time.gift box image by Liz Van Steenburgh from Fotolia.com
If you are selecting a gift for your grandparents but are not sure what they would enjoy, consider giving them a personalized gift to let them know how much you truly care for them. Every time they look at the gift they will remember you and the occasion the gift was given. - Customized shirts, T-shirts and sweatshirts come in many styles. Some will allow only a short message (such as "#1 Grandmother"), while others will allow more customization, including listing the names of all the grandchildren. Choose a shirt that you know your grandparents will love and use and include a thoughtful card with the gift.
- Select a double picture frame, and place a photo in one frame and a note or poem in the other. Alternatively, purchase picture frame family trees and include photos of the whole family, from the grandparents to the grandchildren and any great-grandchildren.
- Order a mug or coaster with a short message from a company specializing in customized gifts or, if you are artistic, create your own using a "paint your own" kit. If you have worked with clay or ceramic, you can also create mugs, coasters or even bowls and jugs completely from scratch.
- Purchase a blank photo album and add photos of your favorite moments spent with your grandparents. You can turn the album into a scrapbook, including tickets, messages and memorabilia, or simply write a message on the inside of the cover. Leave some pages blank so the grandparents can add photos of future events.
- For a grandmother, purchase a handmade necklace or bracelet engraved with her grandchildren's names. For a grandfather, personalized collar stays or cuff links could be the right gift if you know he uses them. Alternatively, consider a keyring engraved with the grandchildren's names.
- Handmade gifts range from the simple to the complex. You could make a personalized garden stone with the grandchildren's handprints and names, for example, or create handmade soap or candles with the grandparents' favorite fragrances. Embroider a purse with your grandmother's name or a shirt with your grandfather's initials.
