- 1). Identify the directory containing the backup image. It must be local to the computer running Tally.ERP. The directory was chosen at backup creation time. Each file with a name starting with "TBK" and a three-digit extension, such as "TBK877.002," is a backup image.
- 2). Go to "Company Info," then to "Restore" within Tally.ERP.
- 3). Enter the destination of the restore operation, that is, the directory to which the backup image will be restored. By default, the destination is "C:\Tally\Data." Press "Enter" to move the cursor to the next field.
- 4). Select the image you want to restore from the table containing "Name of Company" and "Number" in the Tally window, using the cursor keys. The number will be the same as in the three-digit extension of the filename you identified in Step 1.
- 5). Press "Enter" to initiate the restore operation. At the end, the dataset will have been restored to Tally's current data directory.
