Some Thoughts On Wind Power

103 149
Renewable resources like wind power are a common talking point in the news and our society.
However there are not only advantages associated with wind power.
Costs for example are a huge factor.
Many wind farm plants are located far away from where they are needed, requiring a significant amount of money to construct new transmission lines and substations.
Apart from the costs the advantages and disadvantages of wind power are not fully understood yet.
Wind power depends on the amount and strength of wind available.
This means that wind turbines can only be placed in certain areas and climate zones around the world.
Alongside costs and locations there are also problems arising from the point of view of the environment.
There is no doubt that wind turbines have an impact on the environment and nature and of course on the landscape.
Birds for example die in huge numbers when colliding with wind turbines.
Wind turbines are also very noisy.
However noise reducing technology can address this problem easily.
They are also an eye sore to the countryside and there have been many complaints of people living close to them.
This leads on to the advantages of wind power.
Although there is some impact on the environment, this is minimal compared to what is gained.
Wind turbines only use a small amount of land, therefore agriculture and land usage are hardly affected.
Wind power as an alternative energy is fast to produce and its basic costs are relatively cheap.
Wind power is a renewable resource which will be available in the future, as long as the wind keeps blowing.
The carbon dioxide emissions produced as a result of the installation of wind turbines is recovered after about two years.
Considering the loss of birds as mentioned above, wind energy is still much friendlier to wildlife compared to fossil fuels which kills far more animals.
Fossil fuels produce a lot of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas and are therefore a huge financial burden to the economy in fighting global warming.
Wind turbines only produce very little emissions compared to fossil fuels and are therefore far more environmentally friendly.
We can say that wind power is a veritable renewable energy source we should not rule out for the time being.
The technology is constantly being developed for more efficient and environmentally friendly renewable energy sources.
It is a question of balancing the environmental advantages with the costs for the providers and consumers.
Currently green energy manufacturers are still very much dependent on government subsidies which create enormous political conflict.
With some patience, we are definitely heading into the right direction.
