Looking to Diatomaceous Earth Filtration To Solve the World"s Water Problems

Filtering all of the water that's needed in the world is expensive.
Building the filtration facilities and equipping them with the latest in filters and other equipment means that the expenses just keep going on and on, even though funding isn't always available.
In addition, water treatment plants around the world are trying to revamp their operations in order to become more eco-friendly.
That's why many of them are turning to diatomaceous earth (DE) filters which are not only economical but also effective.
Diatomaceous earth occurs naturally in large quantities in nature.
Made up of the shells of dead organisms, it is a porous material which makes it imminently suitable for filtering purposes.
Removing DE from the earth has no negative ecological effect.
There are other uses for the material, including a food-grade product which is mixed with the grains fed to livestock and poultry, but water filtration is the main use.
The pores in the substance are microscopically-small in order to filter out the smallest pathogens while leaving essential nutrients in the water.
Not everything in water is harmful to humans; in fact, there are good bacteria present that we don't want to filter out.
Millions of people have turned to the option of bottled water believing it to be safer than municipal tap water.
Testing, however, has proven that this isn't the case.
In fact, some types of bottled water are more hazardous than tap water.
Bottled water is not regulated by the government as strictly as municipal water is, and no one knows what might be present in some of the products offered.
A lot of different types of home filtering equipment is another option for those concerned about the quality of their H2O, but this can be a very expensive way of attaining the water we want.
Enter DE which is much more affordable than either of these alternative choices.
With part of the world struggling under the burden of contaminated water and disease and the rest of us worried about having sufficient resources to meet the need for future generations, we can realize just what a precious commodity we're talking about, and it makes us understand that new, eco-friendly methods of cleaning polluted streams, lakes, and rivers are going to be a necessary part of that future.
The supply of fresh, clean water that we once thought of as an unending quantity and took for granted is actually proving to be yet another endangered species.
