How to Remodel a 5x8 Bathroom
- 1). Paint the walls in your 5-by-8 bathroom a light color. Light colors create an illusion of a larger room while dark colors make a room feel and look small.
- 2). Lay plastic over all of the items in the bathroom, including the floor, vanity and toilet, to protect them from accidental paint splatter. Paint the ceiling in the bathroom to give an new look and feel to the room.
- 3). Install mirrors over an entire wall in your bathroom. Choose between framed wall mirrors or a selection of frameless mirrors. Mirrors will complement the light paint color on the walls and help to create an open, airy feeling in the room.
- 4). Install a glass block window or frosted glass windows in the bathroom according to the manufacturer's directions. These windows allow natural light to radiate throughout your bathroom, making it look and feel larger. They also provide privacy as the glass is opaque.
- 5). Remove the sink, and install a pedestal or wall-hung sink according to the manufacturer's directions to create more floor space in your 5-by-8 bathroom.
- 6). Hang shelving above the sink, windows and doorway in your bathroom to give yourself storage space and affect the look and feel of your walls.
- 7). Clean the bathroom floor with mild detergent, water, a rag and a gentle brush. This effort will prevent you from having to remove the flooring and install a new one.
