- 3). Check the box next to "Check for Updated Definitions Before Scanning" and click "Save."
- 4). Click the "down arrow" next to "Scan" and select "Full Scan" from the drop-down menu. Windows Defender searches your entire computer for spyware and removes any spyware that it finds. This process may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours. However, you can minimize the window and continue working as normal.
