Forgiveness - Does It Really Pay to Let It Go?

103 91
Anger and revenge- they sound good at the time don't they? Yeah, they sound real good in the first minutes after somebody says something you don't like- something hurtful, something mean maybe something not even true.
You see red and you start to sweat.
Now you're playing this tired old scenario over and over in your head and each time the same thing happens.
You start to sweat, your heart races, your blood pressure goes up.
Your day is not going very well.
And, in the meantime, the person you're mad at might not even know it! They're walking along whistling a happy tune and having a great day.
The only one who is miserable is you.
This scenario plays itself over and over again in many different forms.
People are angry- at people who don't even know it and even with people who are no longer alive.
And it boils down to all wasted energy on your part.
There is no reward for anger.
Revenge is a "double edged sword" as they say and only comes back to hurt you.
D.
L.
Moody tells us "I firmly believe that a great many prayers are not answered because we are not willing to forgive someone.
" And why is that? Because anger and rage is occupying every pore of your body and there is just no room for the sun to shine on you.
Think back to all the times you were angry; of all the times you wanted revenge.
Did it ever do any good for you? Did it make you feel good, make you feel like the world was at your feet? I'll bet not.
And why not take today and make it a day when you mend fences? Why not pick up that phone or write that letter? Why not knock on that door and talk it out.
It will make both of you feel better.
it can bring an end to the sweating, the hand wringing, the high blood pressure, the headaches..
the list goes on and on.
Anger and holding a grudge never did anything for anybody.
The only thing it caused was tears and despair.
It's like a broken record playing a song you don't like over and over again.
It's like seeing only clouds when its a bright sunny day outside.
It won't help you and it will send you down a path that pulls you further from what you want.
It pulls you away from the people who mean the most to you.
It isolates you in its icy grip.
So break free from it.
Forgiveness and communication is the key.
