How to Disable Adobe Phone Home
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" menu and type "Folder Options" (without the quotes) in the search box. Press "Enter." The "Folder Options" window will open.
- 2). Click "View" to display a list of "Advanced Settings."
- 3). Click "Show hidden files and folders" to enable that setting. Click "OK" to close the window.
- 4). Click the Windows "Start" menu button and type "%programfiles%" (without the quotes) in the search box.
- 5). Press "Enter." Windows Explorer will display a list of folders located in your Program Files folder.
- 6). Locate the "Common Files" folder in the list to and double-click it. It will open and display its folders.
- 7). Double-click the "Adobe" folder to display a list of its folders.
- 8). Locate a folder named "Updater 5" or "Updater6" in the list. The folder that you see will depend on the versions of the Adobe products that you have.
- 9). Double-click the folder to reveal its contents.

Double-click the file named "AdobeUpdater.exe" located in that folder. The program will start and display the "Adobe Updater" window. Click "Preferences" and uncheck the box next to "Automatically check for Adobe Updates." Then click "OK." Windows 7 will disable the automatic updates. - 1). Click the Windows "Start" menu and type "Folder Options" (without the quotes) in the search box. Press "Enter." The "Folder Options" window will open.
- 2). Click "View" to display a list of "Advanced Settings."

- 4). Open Notepad and press "CTRL+O" to display the "Open" window.
- 5). At the top of this window, you will see a "Search" box on the right and a text box to the left of the "Search" box. Highlight the contents in that text box and press the spacebar to delete the contents.
- 6). Type "%userprofile%" (without the quotes) in the text box and press "Enter." Notepad will display a list of folders located in your User Profile folder.
- 7). Click the drop-down arrow at the bottom right of the window and select "All Files."
- 8). Double-click the "AppData" folder and then double-click the "Local" folder to open it. This folder contains the "Adobe" folder. Double-click the "Adobe" folder to display its folders.
- 9). Locate a folder named "Updater 5" or "Updater6" in the list. The folder that you see will depend on the versions of the Adobe products that you have.

Double-click the folder to reveal its contents. Locate "AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat" in the folder. Double-click that file. Notepad will open it and display its contents. - 11
Locate "<AutoCheck>1</AutoCheck>." If you find it, change the 1 to 0 (zero). Otherwise, add the following text anywhere between the "<AdobeUpdater>" and "</AdobeUpdater>" tags:
<AutoCheck>0</AutoCheck>
You will find the <AdobeUpdater> tag at the top of the file and the </AdobeUpdater> tag at the bottom of the file. - 12
Press "CTRL+S" to save the file.
