How to Make a Homemade Antenna for a Wireless G PCI Card

    • 1). Place a sheet of newspaper on a table. Stand the empty coffee can on the newspaper with the open end facing up.

    • 2). Measure three inches up from the bottom. Place the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver against the three inch mark. Hammer the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver through the side of the empty coffee can with the hammer.

    • 3). Heat up the soldering iron for five minutes. Solder one end of the copper wire to the center contact in the front end of the N-female connector plug. Let the solder cool for two minutes. Unplug the soldering iron.

    • 4). Place bonding glue around the hole in the side of the empty coffee can. Place the free end of the copper wire into the hole in the side of the empty coffee can. Hold the N-female connector plug against the hole for a minute. Let the bonding glue set for three hours.

    • 5). Plug the male end of the pigtail N connector into the back end of the N-female connector plug.

    • 6). Remove the antenna plug on the wireless G PCI card with your fingers. Place the antenna plug aside.

    • 7). Place the laptop on a table. Insert the wireless G PCI card in the laptop’s PCI card slot. Place the empty coffee can that is now a homemade antenna horizontally on the table.

    • 8). Insert the free end of the pigtail N connector into the female antenna connection on the wireless G PCI card. Aim the open end of the homemade antenna in the direction of the wireless home network’s transmitter.
