Reset your account security question by asking your account's "Master Screen Name"--the original screen name with which the account was established--to reset the question for you, provided you are not that person. This person will have to log into her account and reset your question for you, permitting you access to access the area where you can change your password.

    • 2). Point your browser to AOL Help website and sign in. Enter your AOL user name and password and click "Sign In." Wait a few moments to be signed in. Click "Forgot Account Security Question," type the image verification string into the box and click "Next."

    • 3). Enter your first and last name, day and evening phone numbers and the last four digits of your primary means of payment into the appropriate fields and click "Next" if you have a paid account.

    • 4). Enter the alternate email address you provided when you signed up, your date of birth, your gender and your ZIP code into the appropriate fields and click "Next" if you have a free account.

    • 5). Scroll through the drop-down menu next to "Account Security Question" and select a new question for your account. Type in an answer to the field below, confirming your answer in the field below that. Click "Next," then "Continue." Your account security question has been changed.

    • 6). Log in to your AOL account and change your account password as you normally would, inputting the new answer to your new account security question when prompted.
