How to Fix Distorted Wireless Cameras

    • 1). Diagnose the problem. To do this, turn the camera on and off twice. Check for distortion each time you turn the camera on. If the problem remains, try connecting the camera to another computer and check the image again. Continued distortion may mean the camera itself has the problem, and you need to buy a new one. If the camera works on the second computer, continue with this procedure.

    • 2). Go back to the original computer and reconnect your Web cam. Go to the control panel on your computer and click on "Device Manager." If your camera is detected and recognized by Windows, you will see its name under the "Devices" tab, but, if it is not recognized by Windows, it will be listed under the "Other Devices" tab. Either way, this makes sure there is proper connection between your camera and your computer.

    • 3). Update the device driver. When in the Device Manager window, look for the name of the device. Right-click on the name and select "Update Driver Software." Follow the instructions on the pop-up screen and make sure you allow the computer to connect to the Internet. Wait for the download and installation to finish.

    • 4). Test by opening your camera software on your computer. Try taking a picture or a video of at least 30 seconds. Review the picture or video to see if the image is still distorted.
