How to Use Jumpers on a SATA Hard Drive
- 1). Place a soft cloth on a table. Place the SATA hard drive vertically on the soft cloth with the warning label facing up and the connectors on the back facing you.
- 2). Locate any vertical connector blocks that are on any of the jumpers in the jumper compartment--the jumper compartment is located on the edge of the SATA hard drive to the left of the Legacy ATA power connector.
- 3). Grab the sides of the vertical connector block with the tweezers. Pull the vertical connector block off to set the jumpers so that the SATA hard drive will be the "Master" drive when it is placed inside a computer.
- 4). Grab hold of the sides of a vertical connector block with the tweezers. Place the vertical connector block over the two vertical holes at the extreme right end of the jumper compartment.
- 5). Push the vertical connector block onto the holes to set the SATA hard drive as a "Slave" drive when placed inside a computer.
